Your Health Comes First is an award-winning preventive health education programme developed by Dr Jasmin Tzortzakakis Malik, a General Practitioner with over two decades of clinical practice, research experience, and lived experience of illness. The programme is designed to improve understanding of how the body functions under strain, illness, and recovery, and how early physiological changes often precede more established disease.

So many of us look to address our health only once it starts to become a problem. We often wait until things get bad before we pay attention. But behind the scenes, our bodies are speaking through fatigue, inflammation, sleep issues, stress responses, and subtle shifts in energy that often go unrecognised.

I’m Dr Jasmin Tzortzakakis Malik, a General Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in trauma-informed healthcare. Throughout my career, I’ve supported people facing the early signs of burnout, chronic stress, and exhaustion.

But I’ve also been on the other side.

After years of over-functioning, juggling roles, pushing through, and working at an unsustainable pace, I was unprepared for what followed when I developed long COVID. My energy, immune function, and physical resilience collapsed. Despite my medical training, I found myself without clear answers. Healing required something different: slowing down, listening more deeply, and rebuilding from the inside out.

This platform is the resource I wish I’d had during that time: practical, compassionate, and rooted in both clinical insight and lived experience..

My mission is simple:

To support prevention by making wellbeing practical, trauma-informed, and accessible.
To enable people to respond early, stay connected to what their bodies may need, and recover more steadily when things shift.

What I’ve Learned as a Doctor, and as Someone Who’s Been Unwell

“Before long COVID, I was running, cycling, climbing, dancing, working full time, holding it all together. Then suddenly, I couldn’t walk 100 metres without my heart racing. I was inflamed, in pain, exhausted, and lost in the very system I was trained in.

I had to rebuild from scratch, not just as a GP, but as someone whose body had stopped coping. That experience changed how I practise medicine and why I created this space.

I had to slow down. Learn to feel safe in my body again. To stop silencing symptoms and start listening to what they were trying to show me.

That’s what this work is about. It’s about remembering that your body has been on your side all along.”

I'm Dr Jasmin, a GP with two decades of experience in trauma-informed, inclusive care. I founded Your Health Comes First to support those who, like me, were falling through the cracks.

This is about prevention, not perfection. And it’s about creating a calm, compassionate space to make sense of your health through both science and lived experience.
